Dalmatians are typically very clean dogs who do not need frequent bathing.

They do shed year-round, which can be helped with regular brushing. Many owners find a rubber brush (like the Kong zoom groom) does a great job of getting loose hair out, and most dogs really enjoy it!

Nails need to be clipped and/or ground regularly to ensure safe and comfortable movement.

Preparing your Dalmatian for a dog show is quick and easy. Many owners will bathe prior to a show to get their white sparkling clean. Some handlers will trim whiskers, others do not. Some dogs may benefit from small amounts of trimming and tidying, i.e. end of tail and flanks.
